I have been working on this, intermittently, for…maybe a year? I joke that someday it will get done, even if it takes years. So far, I have made 115 puffs.
-Using Judy’s wonderful cast-on (the video is really worth watching)
-Kitchener bind-off
-Following all pattern directions
4/6/13: 141 puffs
12/2/13: 159 puffs
-Trying to revive and finish this project in 2014. I’ve set a goal of 6 puffs a week, to finish the knitting in 4 months. Or so.
I should mention that the adorable speckled puffs come from ashleybah’s blog:

In trying to figure out how I will attach these, I might go this route:

Almost done sewing them all together! I put them “organized” in 12 rows of 20 puffs. I have found that it started to make a crazy chevron shape, so am trying to fill out the bottom with my last row. I dread making more puffs, but might have to in order to make it more even. I am surprised at how it’s not as big as I had pictured with over 400 puffs, but I still will love my lap blanket.

Aaaannnd, I’m calling it done. I’ve been using it all winter as a lap blanket. Just now calling it actually done. Even though I have a bag with 20ish puffs still left to attach. Just. Can’t. Do. It. Anymore.
So, that was a long project. I had anticipated with over 400 puffs that it would be much larger.
And nevermind the very odd shape it turned out to be in.
I guess I’ll just have to love it for what it is.
