{Nov.20.2011} - second baby sweater finished! I reserved the last row to do a shell stitch. So sc, sk next st, 5 dc in next st, sk next st, repeat across botton row evenly.

For the hat, I followed a Coats pattern for a preemie hat and highly modified it to make it bigger for about a 3 months size. It ended up about 7” across at the very bottom of the hat. I used the 4-medium yarn so I followed the directions in parenthesis and increased the last two dc rows on the main part of the hat (not the brim) to 40 and then 44 stitches to make it bigger. As long as the number of stitches is a multiple of 4 to begin the shell row, it’s good to go. I think I also did a couple of extra sc rows before the brim and the last row of sc before the brim I turned and sc in the front st only to help the brim turn up.
