Notes

I think this project is going to be a good learning experience for me. There are a few parts where there are stitches or combos I’ve never done, first being the provisional cast on, but it seems do-able. My plan is to just follow the pattern, and if I’m unsure how to proceed, I’ll look to knittinghelp.com or other sites for videos.

Added May 5/2014: I am finished as far as the pattern goes and am happy with the result and fit. I plan to sew in some bra cups or some such thing for some support and shaping in the chest. I plan to photograph it on in the daylight after putting in the bra support and will also report what it acts like wet.

Adding May 25/2014: added a bra insert and photographed on. Despite my body image issues, I knew from searching that I could never find a photo of this suit on any model or knitter, and decided it was worth it. :) Also tried wetting it, and it IS quite heavy when wet. I would say, if one wanted to swim in it, changing the straps to a wider, flat, knitted strap and sewing a sturdy elastic behind them would be a necessary change to hold up all that wet cotton. In any case, it feels flattering and kind of throw back to pin-up days to wear out of the water, and, over all, I love it.
