HEAVILY PIMPED

I’m such a rule-breaker so apologies if my notes are of no use whatsoever!

I loved the look of the pattern but I wanted to use some stash yarn and because I’m a curvy girl I often find that shawl look a bit small for me…. SO….. I dived into my stash and grabbed a whole bunch of Drops Nepal that I had rescued from a frogged project a few months ago plus some Knit Picks Chroma Worsted from the same project.

It’s really impossible to know how many balls of each yarn I used because it was all in relatively small hand-wound balls - sorry.

Anyway, I started with 6mm needles (the pattern calls for 3.75mm and fingering weight) which is a size or two up from what is recommended for the yarn (I knew I wanted a drapey fabric) and just followed the pattern using the Drops Nepal Beige until I had knitted 440 rows in total at which point I switched to the striped section B. Again, I changed from the original pattern and knitted blocks of 8 rows and 2 rows to achieve a look I liked.

I then moved to the final section C and knitted 6 blocks of 8 rows with the 2 row sections in between - just as I had done for section B. I did a total of 6 big stripes in this section (the pattern calls for 11 big stripes).

I used a fairly stretchy cast off stitch alternating with a tight one because the really stretchy cast off was making the cast off edge wavy.

Done.

I love it and wear it with a shawl pin to keep the whole thing together - it’s super warm so I might have to wait for winter to return before it gets consistent use but it might also be useful for summer nights round the fire-pit.
