My son’s first knitted socks. Just simple, warm socks in plain stockinette.

Magic loop cuff-down one-at-a-time.
Long tail CO 38 sts,
twisted 1x1 ribbing (k1tbl, p1) for 10 rounds,
stockinette for 24 rounds,
heel flap in stockinette on 19 sts for 16 rows
pick up 8 sts on each side for gusset
then decreasing every other round until 19 sts are left on each needle
knitting in stockinette for XXX rows
toes: dec rnd - 3 plain rnds - dec rnd3 = 11 sts left on each needle.
