Wool bought at Triquerta Crafts in Inverness - local wool

2.11.25 - finished knitting - washing & blocking now

Knitted from the Summer Meadow Collection by Caithness, purchased at Triquerta Crafts in the Victorian Market in Inverness. The wool was a souvenir from our holiday in Scotland in 2025, when we also visited the Orkney Islands. I really wanted wool from the region, not the Shetland wool you usually find in tourist shops. And I’m really glad I discovered this wool. It’s a little thicker (DK weight, I think). It’s also rather rustic – not as fluffy and soft as the merino wool we’re used to nowadays. But it doesn’t scratch, it’s just a little rougher – and actually became a little softer when washed. But it’s just right for the shawl – it will keep me warm on cosy evenings around the campfire.

I used an Icelandic bind-off for the finish at the bottom – I think it goes better with the garter stitch edge.
