Notes

This is a very quick knit.

Following the other helpful notes on Ravelry, I worked the body in one piece and did not cast off for the hood, but instead increased the needed number of stitches (using M1) on the last round of the body.

I have about .25 of a ball left from the third ball used.

Even though this yarn seems expensive and questionable for a child’s item, I got it at a good price from another forum member during a destashing party. Since I am giving the finished garment to a mom and dad who seem to love and care for handknits, not too worried.

I love this yarn! As others have pointed out, the yardage is very good for the price and it’s a wonderful basic for those who love wool and alpaca combined.

For fun, I picked up and knitted a little pocket on left front with the Noro Aya referenced above.

Because the increases for the hood were not that tidy, I concealed them with some applied (also known as attached) icord, after visiting Purl Bee for a quick refresher on how to do that. I knit my icord onto the outside back neck, including an icord loop for hanging it up on a hook; you can see it in the third photo from the top.

I think this icord should add stability to the area around the neck but if it’s droopy, I would add it to the inside of the neck too, or at least sew in some grosgrain there.

Very cute design.

I see why others think it’s evocative of Little Red Riding Hood.
