3/28/09: YES! I am finally done! Well, actually I have to weave in ends… but… woohoo! I finished knitting these! They are my first labor-intensive socks for myself. The only others I have are basic anklets. I knit these so small that I was actually worried they might not fit my tiny feet! But, just as I thought, socks stretch and they are the perfect size! I considered alternating every row of the pattern with the smaller and larger needle, but I thought it might be a pain… now I kind of wish I had, because the leg part is a little saggy… but they’re still comfy. Better that they are slightly big than too small because I’d be sad if I couldn’t wear them at all. I love this colorway and this pattern. These socks are fantastic!
3/24/09: Working with a limited amount of yarn, so I thouroughly searched Ravelry for a toe-up sock pattern that I would love. And, I’m definitely loving the outcome so far! Working with size 0 needles is…how you say, fiddley! Indeed. Since I’m doing two socks at once on such small needles for the first time, it’s taking FOR-E-VER. Four days in and I am 30% or 35% done… Anyway, I like them!
Technical details: Smaller needle for most of sock until leg, where I switched to the larger needle. I switched back to the smaller needle for the ribbing. Sewn bind-off. I used a small sample of Cherry Tree Hill for the ribbing. I have no idea what it was since it was just a sample I got more than a year ago at Stitches West 2008. I can’t believe what a perfect match the colors are! What are the chances that I’d choose a sample color that would match a yarn for a project so well!?
