Had 44g left at the start of the last eyelet section as written, so decided to knit on. The three row section took 3g, so I did some quick maths that I needed to start the eyelet section before the final section with 15g. I worked through the stockingette section, and had between 13 and 14g remaining. I decided to continue, rather than rip back, in the basis that
A) ripping back remained an option, and
B) I could cut out a row prior to the bind off if I needed it.
I made it through the eyelet section, and all of the final section. It was going to be enough, I was sure! I got halfway through the bind off: still looking okay. Knit faster, that always helps to conserve yarn (but don’t knit tighter, this thing has to be blocked)!
I was half a yard short. HALF A YARD!
I did a bit of stash diving (which I think both impressed and horrified MrLJ), and come up with two options. There was a perfect colour and yarn weight match, in cotton, or there was a handspun yarn, same construction, little bit darker, little bit bigger, which in the end I opted for. Hopefully it’s woolliness will be more forgiving, and I was able to spit splice it in, which saved more of the Lavender Fields.
