My yarn arrived today, and call me crazy but I’m getting ready to start this one, without having finished my Floral Elegance LFC practice piece. However, I am adjusting a few things as a result of that attempt. First, I bought all the yarn needed for it rather than stash diving. Secondly, the other one was coming out HUGE, and you could see the way too big holes which was driving me semi-crazy, so this yarn is slightly smaller, and I am going with a smaller hook than I would with this yarn in a different project.
My daughter picked these colors after showing her the completed project pics here on Ravelry. Wish me luck!!! …Gonna need it with using the Black, lol. My old eyes aren’t what they used to be. :)

Getting ready to start Row 29 (green) and expect to add a new skein of it, just started a new black one on the previous Row.

I’m super happy with the way this is coming out with the smaller hook and yarn. And I’m totally loving this yarn that I got on a yarn liquidation site for the unbelievably low price of $1 for a bag of 5 skeins. Yes, that’s correct. So for 20 skeins of this really soft nice dk yarn I paid $4.00. I ordered from DBNY which I’d never used before, and quite honestly wasn’t sure it was for real until I got the package. I’ll definitely be continuing to check out that site for more awesome deals.

I’ve been under the weather for awhile so haven’t been crocheting very much, but am still making progress on this one.
One thing that has made this design easier to keep track of and to double check is that it is symmetrical. So if you fold it in half you can visually compare and ensure everything matches up! I’ve not had to frog back on this one at all, which is always a good thing. :)

Currently on Row 62. Have started on the 3rd skein of black, with the 3rd skein of green soon to follow. Row 58 started the new section which won’t be exactly symmetrical per se; the ends are slightly different, but it is still visually easy to check for errors. I’ll grab a new pic and some measurements when I lay it out again.
Since the pattern consists entirely of dc’s and ch’s I am consistently amazed that it doesn’t go along very fast, at least not for me. I’m guessing it has to do with the need to keep specific counts which can vary quite a bit. This new section has more ‘patterned counts’ and that does speed things up slightly for me. I do love the fact that there won’t be tons of ends to weave in though. :)

Latest pic is after Row 67, which shows the first wave of two in that section. It currently measures 14.5” by 45”. I think it’ll end up a really good size. Not too big, not too small and rectangular for a change. Seems like most patterns I’ve done are round (-ish) or square lately. Also with this one, the back looks pretty good too, not the same front and back like you would have for intarsia or tapestry crochet, and not just lines like you would have for mosaic; but sort of a somewhat flip side mirroring, if that makes sense to anyone but me, lol. :)

Wow, I can’t believe it has been so long since I’ve been able to crochet! A little over a month! I have been soooo busy. New grandbaby and she’s a beauty. Lots of family things going on to tend to; but the biggest shocker? Got crazy and decided to try to go back to College! After 40+ years! Lots going on trying to gather transcripts, get app in and approved, accepted just before the deadline that was fast approaching. Advising complete, monies in place, scholarship awarded, classes scheduled; it’s been CRAZY… My big return is slated for August 19th, so I’m hoping to try to get some work done on these WIP’s because there’s no telling how things will go in the first weeks of class. I’m excited, but nervous as heck. There’s a lot for me to catch up and get refreshed with. Here’s to hoping this old lady can still rock the education scene. LOL.

Plodding along with my classes but do try to do some work on this when I can. Currently finishing up the bird section. I will need to locate information on the next section as I wish my wolves to face each other.

October 6, 2019

Purchased the ‘Facing Wolves’, finished the regular pattern to Row 151 and grabbed a couple of pics before starting the new section.

Finished! It’s awesome and warm and more importantly, ready for my daughter’s upcoming birthday Nov. 5th. :)
