Notes

I couldn’t say no to this cute cowl by Stephanie Lotven, so here is another test!
I love the different textures which were all easy to knit, and the cute colorwork motifs. As always, the pattern is well explained and good to follow. I’m very happy with my cowl!

Needles used:
3.25 mm Lykke interchangeables for the start. Changed to 3.5 mm needles for the colorwork and continued with these to the end.

Pattern gauge: 24 sts and 32 rows.
My gauge: 24 sts and 28 rows in colorwork with needle 3.5 mm.
My measurements washed:
1 Front length: 63.5 cm
2 Neck opening: 23.5 cm (×2)
3 Back length: 38 cm

Here is the Ravelry info thread, but the test is held on Slack.

I decided not to use the yellow and blue together on top. So I found a light blue which worked nicely together with the darker blue, and only used the yellow for the chickens and the border.

My colors:
C1a: Sisu Denim Blue 6324. (22 g)
C1b: Sisu yellow 2122. (52 g)
C2: Sisu Ink Blue 6063. (51 g)
C3: Tynn Merino White (kitt) 1015. (40 g)
C4: Sisu Pink 4628. (35 g)
C5: Sisu Moss Green 9573. (52 + 5 g)
C6: Gründl Hot Socks Yellow Multicolored 505. (36 g)
C3+: Bling 3004 silver added for bunnies in section 9: (50 g) (50 g = 350 m)

My yarn amounts used for clues:
Calculations for Sandnes Sisu and Tynn Merino: grams x 3.5 = meters.
Calculations for Gründl Hot Socks: grams x 4.2 = meters.

  • Section 1 Easter Basket: C1a: 5 g/ 17.5 m used (17 g left).
  • Section 2 Easter Grass: C2: 9 g/ 31.5 m used (42 g left)
  • Section 3 and 4 Easter Basket - and joining: C1a: 14 g/ 49 m used (3 g left)
  • Section 5 Tulips: C3 white: 9 g/ 31.5 m used (31 g left). C4 pink: 5 g/ 17.5 m used (30 g left). C5 green: 3.3 g / 12 m used (1.7 g/ 6 m left)
  • Section 6 Chicks: C1b: 8 g/ 28 m used (44 g left). C2: 10 g/ 35 m used (32 g left). C6: 2 g/ 7 m used (34 g left)
  • Section 7 Eggs: C2 ink blue not used in this clue. C3 white: 6 g/ 21 m used (25 g left) C5 green: 13 g/ 45.5 m used (39 g left of 52-g-skein).
  • Section 8 Carrots: C4 pink: 14 g/ 49 m used (16 g left). C5 green: 2 g/ 7 m used (37 g left of 52-g-skein). C6 multicolor: 5 g/ 17.5 m used (29 g left).
  • Section 9 Bunnies: C3 white: 11 g/ 38.5 m used (14 g left). Bling added: 6 g/ 42 m used (44 g left). Instead of C6, I used C2 Ink blue: 16 g/ 56 m used (16 g left).
  • Section 10 Border: C1b yellow: 5 g/ 17.5 m used (39 g left). C2 ink blue: 5 g/ 17.5 m used (11 g left). C4 pink: 6 g/ 21 m used (10 g left). C5 green: 4 g/ 14 m used (33 g left).

Used total: (Note that for section 9, I used C2 Ink blue instead of C6)
C1a: 22-3 = 19 g/ 66.5 m
C1b: 52-39 = 13 g/ 45.5 m
C2: 51-11 = 40 g/ 140 m
C3: 40-14 = 26 g/ 91 m
C4: 35-10 = 25 g/ 87.5 m
C5: 3.3+(52-33) = 22.5 g/ 79 m
C6: 36-29 = 7 g/ 29.5 m
Bling for the bunnies: 6 g/ 42 m

Other notes:

  • In section 7, I made my own pattern for the eggs, in rounds 7,8, 10 and 11, purling the green sts in the eggs.

  • I used a stretchy Bind-off to finish the edge, working in pattern and alternating K2tog and P2tog.
