Test thread

Sometimes I can’t say ‘no’ to a test. It looked too cute! So I ended up testing the smallest size for my doll.
There are several possibilities to modify the pattern, with 3 different charts. Very fun!
The final pattern will even have more options, to shorten the body if desired.

The sweater fits my bear better than my doll. Both are about 52 cm high.

Needles used:

  • Main needle: 3.5 mm, metal circulars by Addi. 100 cm for body, using magic loop. 80 cm for sleeves.
  • Ribbing needle: 3.0 mm, metal circulars by Addi. Using magic loop: 100 cm for body ribbing, 80 cm for cuffs.
  • Used for start of neck: 3.0 mm DPNs, metal needle by KnitPro.

My gauge with needle 3.5 mm: Colorwork stitch gauge as in pattern (21 sts unwashed should get 20 sts washed). My colorwork round gauge was looser unwashed (26 sts), but since I stretched it out in the width, it got tighter.
My gauge washed, needle 3.5 mm, colorwork:
10 sts and 27 rounds.

Measurements unwashed:
Yoke length: 9 cm
A - Body width: 20 cm (x 2 = 40 cm circumference)
C - Body length from armhole: 19 cm
F - Sleeve length from armhole: 13 cm

Measurements washed and dry:
A - Body width/ chest circumference: 22 x 2 = 44 cm circumference.
B - Neck circumference: 27 cm (but can be stretchet out to 40 cm)
C - Body length from armhole: 19 cm
D - Upper arm: 17 cm
E - Wrist circumference: 14 cm, measured right about ribbing.
F - Sleeve length from armhole: 15 cm
G - Yoke length: 9.5 cm
H - Front of the neck drop: 2.5 cm
I - Total length: 29.5 cm

Colors and yarn amount used:

  • MC: Grey (1) 46 g. 92 m. Used: 42 g/ 84 m (4 g left).
  • C1: Blue-green (1) 32 g. 64 m. Used: 5 g/ 10 m (27 g left).
  • C2: Brown (1) 47 g. 94 m. Used: 38 g/ 76 m (9 g left).
  • C3: White (1) 44 g. 88 m. Used: 18 g/ 36 m (26 g left).
  • C4: Yellow (1) 37 g. 74 m. 6 g/ 12 m used (31 g left).

Modifications and other notes:

  • I would recommend at least to knit 2 rnds after the division round before starting the body chart.

  • Since my row gauge was looser, I skipped 2 rnds in the body chart: rnd 33 and 41.

  • I left also out rnd 13 of the cuff ghost charts to match the body.

  • Sleeve decrease rounds: I left out 2 rounds by working decrease rounds 1-4 two times (instead of rounds 1-5).
