After having made a pair of the clogs for my sister-in-law, I’m now making a matching pair for my brother.

I noticed that some other knitters used Judy’s Magic Cast-on, and working in the round, to avoid the bottom & back seam so I’m trying that. I will purl the even rows and knit the odd ones. My brother’s foot is very wide, so I’m adding the foundation row (knit), plus an extra (purl) row to replace the row the is basically created when you do a long-tail cast on.

For the first row after the cast on, I knit it with the purl bumps from JMC facing. That avoids a stockinette trough down the middle.

Using two 9mm needles for the base.

Finished first clog. (Still need to weave ends and back stitch the two soles. )

Oops! Just started the upper for the second clog and realized that on the first one I had missed the “Fit Note: To fit an extra wide foot, work 1 more complete round before beginning instep shaping.” Have to decide whether I want to frog it all back.

March 6, 2019

I did it… I frogged back. frog. No point in doing something if you don’t do it right. He did say he has particularly wide feet.

Knitting done, soles tacked and ends weaved in. All that’s left is the felting, and then sewing the bases.

Joel came over for dinner on Apr 21 and we had a “felting party”. Sewed the sole patches on them on about May 9. BTW, the patches were from https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/chasingfireceramics?ref=l2-s...
