I made Dilek Design’s Mario doll pattern for my nephew last year for Christmas and he loved it so much he insisted I make Luigi, too. As with Mario, I have the same note about the pattern: While it is not a difficult pattern to create, the pattern was confusing at times. This may be because it was originally written in another language and then translated to English? Some things are lost in the translation and having some experience with creating toys is going to be helpful when making this.
::NOTES ABOUT THE PATTERN::
I have already made her pattern for Mario in the past and have been able to compare both.
1) There was an error in the pattern. The part of the pattern for Luigi’s legs are nearly identical to that of Mario, so it was obvious she had copied that part of the pattern when writing Luigi as she didn’t make the change in the pattern to accommodate that difference. This error is likely to stump a new/inexperienced crocheter.
2) Another error in the pattern: the part of the pattern for the hat was copied from the Mario pattern. The pattern reads to use red yarn (which is for Mario), not green (for Luigi). It’s too big for Luigi’s head, but the perfect size for Mario’s head. Luigi’s head is narrower than Mario’s. Adjustments needed to be made after the hat was complete to accommodate Luigi’s head.
