Notes

I cast on a bunch of stitches to knit a scarf lengthwise. I was going to try linen stitch, but changed my mind and ripped it out - I ended up with 1x1 rib over an odd number of stitches so the ends will have the same edging. I haven’t counted how many stitches; I’m guessing between 200 and 250.

Finished with modified Icelandic bind-off.

Upon washing, it of course expanded to epic proportions. I’m blocking it with the 1x1 ribbing compressed so it fits on my window screen drying rack. I’m going to do some strategic sewing - duplicate stitching a certain number (5? 10?) of the stockinette stitches together on both sides of the fabric to compress the ribbing at the cast-on edge, then continue on the cast off edge, skipping the stitches sewn on the other side, and alternate along the edge like that. The end result will function like alternating pleats so the scarf doesn’t stretch so much but still stretches some, or at least that’s the idea for now as the scarf sits drying on the porch. I think I have enough solid blue handspun left to accomplish this, and if I don’t, I can always spin more.
