Note To Other Knitters

Warning! Buyer beware!
These run incredibly small.
For me, these were so tiny it was unwearable.

Were I a 4 fingered Who of Whoville… maybe they’d fit.

Cindy Lou Who? Bueno.

This 5 fingered gal?
No bueno.

And yes, my gauge was spot on.

For anyone curious… I was so attached to making these mittens that I came up with a solution.

I didn’t want to just add extra plain stockinette because it seemed like the cable pattern would wind up off to the side and not centered all the way across the back of my hand.
So…
I used stitchfiddle.com to create a chart of the cable pattern. Once I had it charted, I was able to see how to extend the cable pattern out wider all the way across the back of the hand and the necessary number of stitches to add.
And Viola!

** Lessons Learned **

This pattern reinforces my - stick to patterns with 100+ completed projects guideline.

Note - the thumb is slapped on the back rather than growing out of the side. This creates a stress point and HUGE hole. Definitely makes me prefer a side thumb.
