Notes

This is my second “Birch” because I knitted the first one in a kind of fluffy mohair yarn which loses an awful lot of fluff - all over my clothes basically. The La Doro lace yarn is lovely and I like the natural look. I wanted a shawl that I can wear with everything, anytime of the year.

I also chose a superwash yarn because I tend to wear my shawls a lot and especially the natural whites are prone to collecting some dirt (especially if you drag them around parks and greenhouses like me :-).

I used two skeins and it came out a bit on the small side - I would have preferred to wrap it a bit more tightly. If I can get hold of a third skein I will probably add a lace border but I like the simple, geometric pattern without any frills.

I would also recommend the bottom-up version of the pattern because it’s much easier to start small and then see how far your yarn takes you.
