The first pattern I EVER bought specifically for this project so my expectations are sky high! Usually I just go for patterns that I find in books or magazines (PomPom most of the time) or I look for free patterns on Ravelry.

There are so many amazing free patterns that I thought I’d start with those and if I ever manage to empty my queue I can still buy one - haha. For “Stockbridge” I thought it would be a good investment because I like knitting with fingering yarn and it is such a basic and plain cardigan that I can knit it many times in different colours without getting bored.

Fingers crossed that my hopes are fulfilled!

The yarn was an impulse buy when I saw that Pickles had a sale on their website. I’ve always loved their vibrant colours but I never ordered anything from there so I thought this must have been a sign.

I didn’t know the Merino Bliss and it is an interesting yarn, quite different from what I usually knit with. But it feels very nice and soft, I’m excited how it will look like when it is knitted up.

CO 271 st with needles 2.0 for the ribbing - this seems big in terms of sizing in the pattern but in previous projects knitted with fingering yarn I CO between 260 and 280 st and that was the minimum. So I figured if I go up a size or two I might end up in the right direction.

Finished the cardigan and it fits beautifully! It turned out a bit shorter than in the pattern, probably because I didn’t use the suggested yarn and the gauge was a bit off. But it’s fine, I can still wear it as a cropped cardi with dresses.

Also, I looooved the yarn and especially the colours. They’re so vibrant and it feels amazing after washing, very fluffly and light but warm. I’m a bit worried about pilling becaus of the mohair component (which is why I usually only go for pure wool) but only time will tell.

I will definitely knit this pattern again.

After using the cardigan regularly for almost 2 years I have to say the yarn is amazing! Hardly any pilling, keeps the shape nicely, and very little wear and tear. It has to be washed by hand unfortunately but that’s the same for most wool yarns so I’m used to it. Can definitely recommend it!
