Notes

Delightful project. Like turning a doily into a dress. Works up quickly.

Using Green Boye G and Clover 4.00mm hooks

- The dresses in this booklet are basically a mix and match of Yokes and Skirts. I have the pattern book that contains all the patterns for sale. Please contact me if you are interested in it.
- Using the yoke from the Whipped Cream Dress For Baby because I can’t imagine that having to unlace and re-lace the ribbon before and after washing is something anyone would really want to do.

- Using the G hook for the beginning chain and the chains in Row 9 of the yoke.
- Beginning rows with stacked SC instead of ch 3.

Skirt measures 5 1/2” at end of Round 10.
Skirt measures 11 1/2’ at end of Round 20.

Body of dress is complete and I’ve done the edging for the neckline. I am not liking having the cut and reattach the yarn to make the “button holes”. Hoping to come up with a better way to do it. Also going to wait until I actually see what kind of buttons are available.

I now know why this bothers me. In women’s clothing, buttons go on the left side of the body when wearing the garment. When looking at the item from in front of the person, that puts them on the right side. But the instructions say to put the botton holes on the right side. Perhaps I put the skirt on backwards? Don’t think so but if I make another one, I will make sure the wider side is on the right.

I am not doing the sleeves but instead using the neck trim to edge them as inspired by Banana Split dress and Sleeveless Whipped Cream Dress Thank you, Yammamamma and lw2416

20240301: Finally got to JoAnn to get the buttons.

20240405: Final decisions:
- No neck trim - the opening looks small to me even without it.
- No button band.
- Using four buttons. Attaching to the fourth DC from the edge on the wider side. Using one ~15” length of yarn. Starting at the bottom of the bodice. Working up to the top of the fourth button at neckline and working in remaining yarn from top to bottom back to starting point. Only one knot this way.
- Using last stitch on narrower side to catch the button.

20240524: Found 60” of 1/4” white ribbon in the closet and used that for the “waist” band.
