Notes

I had originally wanted to turn this Ho-Oh pattern into the Holo-Holo (Horo-Horo) Bird from Baten Kaitos. They’re very similar, with very few differences. Unfortunately, I got bored with making all the individual pieces. As nice as crochet items are with lots of detail, it’s also a lot of work and I get bored and annoyed with it. It’s nothing against this pattern specifically! One day I will actually make a real Ho-Oh or Holo-Holo bird version, just not today.

So what was I to do with the pieces I had already made? I had made the body, the head, the beak, and the wing bones. I looked at it and thought, hey, it sort of looks like a quetzalcoatlus! So I began working on turning it into a quetzal, based on how the quetzals look in ARK: Survival Evolved.

It’s not perfect, and there’s a lot of changes I’ll need to make eventually (different beak, combine the body/neck so it flows, the wing bones need to be longer by a few stitches), but it’s a start.

Here are my notes if you want to make your own in the meantime. They haven’t been fully tested, so you’ve been warned.

Make the head, body, backpiece (optional), beaks (tongue is optional), and wing bones according to the pattern.

WING BONE CHANGE:
-do another round of sc at the end of it, then dec, dec, slst to close. This will be the tip, and the big round part will be the shoulder. (Whereas the pattern has the big round part being the tip.)
