Notes

This is going to be a throw for my Son and Daughter-in-Laws new lounge.

I thought they may like a new one, as Leah has been using, on a daily basis, a granny blanket that my Mum made for her over 12 years ago. It certainly has seen better days, but she loves it. I had to make an urgent repair to it when I visited before lock-down.

Hopefully she will like this one as well.

I have spent over a week procrastinating over what pattern to use, I started 2 different patterns and now I have reverted to the “Old Faithful” granny square blanket.

I really love making them and I know the recipients like granny blankets too, so why not?

I started the squares and put a few together, but decided I would frame each square with white to make the blanket more fresh looking.

I always revert to what I know best.

This blanket is nowhere near what I had first envisaged, but never mind. As you will probably see from my projects, I don’t like change very much wink

At least the pattern layout is a new one to me. I found it a while ago whilst browsing the internet.

I’ve had to tweak the pattern layout, as it wasn’t big enough. I have added 24 rows to the length and 8 clusters to the width. I may have to add a few more stitches to the width, but I will try to get away with it as it took me so long to add the first 8.

I’m Using the JAYG method for joining the squares. A great tutorial being here.

I use BunnyMummy’s technique on the 1st round of the border to avoid a ruffly edge. You can find it here.

I finished off by working a further 5 rounds in white granny clusters and a final round dark round in sc with 2 sc in each corner.

Very pleased with this one. Now I have to get the blanket delivered to them. I’m sure my younger daughter will take it as I’m shielding at them moment, so not allowed out slightly_frowning_face

Note:

I moved the 2 strips of 2 round squares to the other side of the 8 round squares to give a firmer edge.
