I have a basket full of “starter squares” made from scraps of yarn left over from projects, which aren’t big enough to make anything substantial, but too big to throw away, so I am using them to start my squares.

Making traditional granny squares with 8 rounds ending with black and for the border 4 round squares.

Bordered with granny clusters all around using this tutorial from BunnyMummy to avoid a ruffled edge.

As usual I turned after each round. My granny squares tend to tilt, so turning after each round or every other round helps and I don’t have to block the squares.

I used the jayg (join as you go) technique to join the squares. There is a great tutorial here.
