Notes

Making a blanket for my daughter Susie’s friend Che who is having a baby girl in March.
The theme is woodland/forest/nature as is evident from the nursery photo.

After several false starts, we at last have settled for the good old Neat Ripple Blanket in the more muted colours.

I was previously using brighter colours, but needed to go paler to go with the nursery. Have taken colour inspiration from the sweet little pom-pom cushion.

I left out mocha as it was a little dark and was too overpowering.

I’m making this one a little different to my usual ripple baby blankets, by working into the back loop of each stitch.

This gives a lovely ridged look to the blanket. I like it a lot.

I decided to work 2 rows of each of 5 colours and I’m quite pleased with it now. Thank goodness.

165 + 3 chains 11 peaks. One more repeat than I usually do for ripple blankets.
90 rows.

Baby Phoebe arrived early, she was due mid-March, but was born 21 February, 2021. Welcome to the world Phoebe.

Border:

For the top and bottom I did in popcorn stitch in the valleys and peaks as follows:

In corner st, sc, ch3 and work 4 dc into top of sc, remove hook and place into 3rd of beginning ch3 and pull yarn through, making a popcorn st, ch1 to secure, sc back into the same space as the beginning sc, (ch 1, sk 1, sc in next st x 3)* ch 1, sk 1, sc in between the dc2tog’s, repeat from * to ** ch 1, sk1, sc in ch space at peak and work popcorn. Continue along to the corner. Work last popcorn into corner st and work along the side of the blanket with the ch1, sk 1, sc only all along.
