These blankets are a hit with new Mum’s. I have made several, you can see them here

I used this technique from Saturatedlifecro’s blanket to decide the colour sequence, but instead of 3 rows of the colour, I worked 4 (by mistake at first, but decided to go with it).

This is the sequence I followed:

Rows 1 to 5 white
Row 6 grey
Row 7 white
Rows 8 - 11 grey
Row 12 blue
Row 13 grey
Rows 14 - 17 blue
Row 18 white
Row 19 blue
Rows 20 - 23 white
Row 24 grey
Row 25 white
Rows 26 - 29 grey
Row 30 blue
Row 31 grey
Rows 32 -35 blue
Row 36 white
Row 37 Blue
Rows 38 -41 white
Row 42 grey
Row 43 white
Rows 44 - 47 Grey
Row 48 White Crab Stitch.

Note to self:

When changing colour. Start next row in the ch 2 (peak) stitches.

I’ve also noticed when making these blankets that they don’t lie flat. I made a slight alteration to rectify this.

This is my alteration if you’re interested:

Rounds 1 - 5 as pattern
Round 6 Small shell + 2 dc’s
Round 7 Large shell + 2 dc’s
Round 8 Large shell +3 dc’s
Round 9 Small shell + 4 dc’s
Round 10 Large shell + 4 dc’s
Round 11 Large shell + 5 dc’s

Carry on with 1 round of small shells and 2 rounds of large shells to desired size

The pattern is written with rounds 4, 5 and 6 with large shells, so by changing round 6 to small shells is keeping the sequence correct and the right amount of increased stitches.
