Notes

I saw this ingenious blanket and wanted to make it at once. I had to wait for the pattern to be released and I thought I would choose my colours.

Easier said than done. I’ve be procrastinating again and took ages to decide what to go with.

At first I got out all of the stash-down colours, but after making 20+ blankets with these, I’m a little over them.

I had bought a pattern recently for a heringbone c2c, but it entailed lots of bobbins and carrying yarn.

This pattern is great because you make each colour separately, so no bobbins and tangled yarn.

It takes a little getting used to, but I found excellent information on the facebook page and the designer Sheila Houle has been constantly on Facebook guiding everyone through. She has made some very informative Youtube tutorials too which you can find here Thanks Sheila ♥

My Tip:

Of course, I always have to find a different way of doing certain things.

I have found a way to eliminate the need for the 3 chains that sit on the top of the blanket when joining the pieces together when getting out of the “trapped space”.

I just work the last c2c block as normal, anchoring it down as the pattern suggests (under the 2 strands), then I turn the work and sl st back up the last block made and then sl st to the ch 3 space of the left hand piece to secure, then turn and continue with pattern.

I found it hard to explain, but it’s very easy when you get the hang of it and is a much neater finish.

I seem to be on a blue skit at the moment. I’ve decided to go with several blues, greys and white for this one, as we are due 5 new babies before the end of the year and I haven’t got many blue blankets in my stash.

Thinking this will be a cot size or a little larger for baby to lay on to have a kick.

All done and dusted. I had a few hiccups along the way, but overall I enjoyed the challenge this blanket represented. It kept me engaged throughout.
