Notes

Well it’s that time of year again, it has come around so quickly as usual. I’ve made a start with perfecting my pattern for this years Christmas ornament.

I’m pretty pleased with how quickly it has come together this year and there aren’t too many components.

This years ornament is going to be Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman.

I came across this pattern last Christmas and knew straightaway that I would be making the Snowman this year. I’ve read through the pattern and tried to miniaturize it to the best of my ability.

I’ve gone down to a tiny hook for this one 2.20mm which must be an odd size because its not listed on Ravelry. Its only taken a couple of days to get to a reasonable representation. I will spend another day today seeing if I can get it any better and then its down to component making.

Luckily there isn’t much sewing involved with this little fellow. You make the legs and arms and they are crocheted in. I only have to sew on the head, hat and scarf.

6 November. I have completed 100 snowmen. Now I have the hats and scarves to make. Then the final part will be to embroider the faces.

They have been fun to make. After making the heads, arms and legs needed, they were quite speedy to make.

I started with making the legs then joined them. Then continued with the body, joining the arms and then sewing on the head.

17 November. Completed the hats and scarves, so all components finished now. I have to embroider the faces and sew on the hats and scarves.

My daughters Susie and Libby both helped to get the labels done. Susie set-up the printer and found the file and Libby perfected the labels. Thanks Girls,

25 November Just 50 more snowmen to embroider faces on, add the hats, scarves and labels.

Some have flown the coop already. I’ve had good feedback. Little Evelyn even gave him a big kiss x

All 100 + made before the end of November. They didn’t take too long this year.

Now I only have to put them in their little bags and gift them.

Happy Christmas everyone.
