Notes

Knit as written until the border section. For garter stitch chevron border: One more row of Color C after the end of Clue 3. Color A for MC and Colors B, C, D, E in order from light to dark for the CCs. I placed the 2 slip stitches over the last and first stitches of the cross-crosses below. Knit a typical chevron pattern in garter with 2 garter stripes of each CC. End with Color A: one last knit row of then 3 stitch I cord bind-off.

I’ve added a close-up of the edges so you can see the 3-stitch column of Color A that I needed to preserve the stitch count (or maybe decrease one). All of the rest of the slip stich columns are 2 st wide and are directly above the last and first stitch of the crisscrosses.

If I were to do it again, I might continue with edge increases so the border flares on the same angle of the shawl instead of going straight.
