Knitting a bright orange wig.

I saw the “Infinity Mirrors” exhibit, and in order to re-use the polka-dotted thrift-shop dress that I got specifically for that show, I’m assembling a Halloween costume for work (I work at a college, so I like to dress up as a meme or some trendy thing that happened that year, to amuse the students). This year, I’ll go as Yayoi Kusama.

I’ll wear the bright orange wig and dotty dress, create a free-form stuffed pink polka-dotted plushie to carry around, and place the little coloured stickers on a pair of oversized sunglasses. I’m already Asian, old, and unsmiling, so I’m halfway there!

March 10:
The stuffie used up a lot of polyfill, but after Halloween, it’ll become my polyfill storage, so I’m okay with that.

Had extra fabric, so made pumpkin stuffies using this free sewing pattern. Pumpkins are a recurring Kusama motif, and also a recurring Halloween motif!

Have started knitting the wig. Gosh, this yarn is bright. I keep involuntarily looking for Cheetos cheese stains on my fingers while handling the yarn.

March 14:
Knitted 7”, and now ready to CO the bangs. Based on the Ravelry FOs, I’ll CO fewer sts (24 instead of 32) to ensure that as I move my head, the wig continues to cover my “sideburns”.

Added October 31: The “Banksy Shredded” costume is acrylic paint on a pillow case, and is my back-up outfit for work.
