I am knitting a Dalek on size 0 needles with ribbon yarn. I am insane.
update: Yep, insane. The ribbon yarn keeps splitting. I will say this, though: It looks AWESOME.
further update: I switched to a mismatched set of 0s with blunter tips and my frustration level has dropped. Do NOT knit Katia Sevilla on sharp needles! I am through half of the bobble rounds and it’s looking awesomer by the minute. If you can stand it, knit this thing in metallic ribbon--it will make you squee. I will say, however, that I will positively never knit this again, at least not with the knit-in bobbles. The pattern is great, and I absolutely hate bobbles, and the bobbles go on and on and on…
last update before finishing: I swear I’m going to try to get a picture up of this thing soon. I’m done knitting the body and am working on the appendages. Once you get past the bobbles this pattern goes very quickly. JJ knows now what I’m knitting as is nearly as squee-filled as I am. :)
Final notes: I will get pictures up as soon as I find the card reader for my camera. I will never knit this again. It was incredibly frustrating for me--not because the pattern was bad, to the contrary. It’s just my least favorite kind of knitting, where you have to pay close attention to every single g-darn stitch. We found a heavy brass coaster around here that fit inside the Dalek perfectly, so he’s nice and heavy now--a perfect paperweight. His appendages could be a bit stiffer (snorfle), but otherwise he is the AWESOMEST DALEK THAT EVER THREATENED HUMANITY.
