This project started with a large oddment/orphan motif that was created a couple of years ago. Then I decided to make several types of braids or look-a-like braids as embellishments. Being freeform, it of course is using multiple yarns/threads and different stitches.

Braid 1 is working in the bottom loop.
Braid 2 is back-post stitches.
Braid 3 as seen at the edge, is a combo of crochet and knitted I-cord. I was making crochet I-cord, but kept dropping the loops, so switched to DPNs. The braid almost sticks out like a brim. For instructions on how to make this cord, go here.
