I had to seriously modify the pattern for my 18 lb Fattimus Prime. The ear holes each got a few extra rows, as well as casting on three stitches before joining them back together so his whole ear could poke through ‘comfortably’. I also knit some straight rows before decreasing. I changed colors during the knitting part so it was easy to see where I should do the stripe. I also used two strands held together for most of the mane, until I got to halfway down the ears when I switched to one strand so that it wasn’t TOO tightly packed.

While it definitely wasn’t hurting him or crushing his ears, I wouldn’t say he was comfortable. He tolerated it surprisingly well and despite wearing it less than an hour ago, is back at the foot of my bed where he likes to lay.
