I decided to change some things about the hat pattern I used last time, which was the Basic Ear Flap Hat by Jana Falls. For one, I wanted to make the earflaps longer; for another, I needed to make my decreases not quite so obvious at the crown, and am staggering them; for yet another, I found the shaping to bit a bit loose for my personal hat taste. In short, this isn’t really her pattern at all anymore, and that’s why I’ve marked it as remixed / inspired. I still appreciate the original designer’s efforts and wanted to give some credit, even though I’ve heavily changed the pattern.

I’ve gotten a much better idea on how hats fit people since I’ve made so many of them now, and I’m glad for the privilege of not having to follow patterns anymore. I feel much more accomplished when I do things my own way.

There are eight bumps on this katamari hat! Whee!
