Notes

I scoured Ravelry and the rest of the internet for a cloche that I had dreamed up in my head. I could not find it… so I decided to design my own!

This cute cloche is inspired by Miss Lemon, secretary to the peerless detective, Hercule Poirot. I have become rather attached to the ITV series Agatha Christie’s Poirot, starring David Suchet. No one portrays Poirot better, in my opinion, and Pauline Moran is simply wonderful as Miss Lemon. I adore the way Miss Lemon dresses, and after seeing her in a variety of cute hats I felt determined to create one of my own.

Miss Lemon knows just how to handle Poirot’s idiosyncracies with a delicate touch, and the feather-and-fan pattern on the bottom of this cloche reflects that. The simple top reminds me of her modest yet chic style. Finally, the bright yellow colour is, of course, symbolic for her name.
