I love the innovative designs by the very talented al-fa. This hat is a wonderful challenge with its very unusual construction. You really have to pay attention to every row, but the pattern is well written and in its own strange way, easy to follow.

I recommend making notes on which rows to knit in which colours, othewise it its easy to forget to change colours when paying attention to the construction. I did not cut the yarn when changing colours, but carried them at the side to avoid having to weave in too much.

Grey ( contrast colour) 30 g = 60m
light green 18g= 36m
dark green 20 g= 40m
purple 5 g= 10 m
pink 2 g= 4m

all together 150m of this aran weight yarn.
