Wonderful birthday gift of a handdyed skein.
I hope that this pattern will do it justice.
This is actually my very first bought lace pattern.
I do not undederstand lace but for this yarn I willl try.
First I rewrote pattern with charts to see where foot instructions went.
It helped loads to resize for short, slim legs small foot….
Even though I love the result. It felt like a lot of tweaking and chopping of the original pattern. Below is a list of all changes…
Bonus info: the cuff yarn is from a very old project but matches the handdyed beautifully.
Oooh the joy of winding the skein just by feel, to 2 perfect balanced balls of 49 gr each.
Beginning cast on with 2.5 circular needles.
I want the sole to be a bit tighter that 3.0..
Gauge is matched by 2.7/3.0 needles.
#1 - using turkish cast on. I absolutely love it for toe-up knitting. co-ing only 6 stitches.
#2 - kfb mirrored for left side increases. (nb only 16 sole stitches). https://www.mysecretwish.ca/bar-increase-right-leaning
note to self: needle change works best in the middle of sidecables.
the red thread is lifeline where gusset begins.
Instep persistently gettin too loose. beginning gusset waay back on the foot.
GUSSET (increase rounds):
#3 change back to 2.7
#4 adding 3 extra turn rows (with increases). turning on the 2. cable stitch from the sole + only on rows 14 or 15.
#5 increase to 38 stitches (not 40) by only doing turn rows instead of the last 2 decreases on chart 2.
#6 change to 3.0 at line 12 in chart 2.
#6a fixing k3tog decreases in left petal.
LEG:
#7 change to 3.3 at line 24 2. rep.
#7a fixing k3tog decreases in left petal.
CALF:
Changed to 3.6
#8 chart 3 only increased by 6 sts wich made repeats go from 3-14 and 11-14.
#9 only 8 flowers and transition to chart 4 after line 12.
TIGH:
#10 “instep” out of sync, using paint to move lattice 2 rows down.
#11 keeping k3tog in left side….
#12 adding an extra cable section 18-25
#13 continue to top with flower out of sync. Row 33, knit a line 31 on sole section.
#14 did not like cuff section, made my own by cutpasting flowers and improvising lattice. Changing at last to 3.3 needles for 1 row k,k,yo. then 2 rows knit. Bind off by knit, slip over, on 3.6.
