stretch sideseams before blocking

place marker at first purl row with 9 stitches… to match first purl row with 1 stitch

needles:
side seams+icord+first leaf row: 2.5
orange: 3.6
rest 3.3

icord for leaf = 2 rows
icord for spacer = 8 rows
(rightmost is first sideseam)

sideseam stitches = 23, do not knit together first purl row..

Nope sorry had to uravel, couldent stand the smooth mandarin alpaca any longer…

Luckily i have some holst coast..

denim: 3.6
sideseam = 24 stitches (my bad)

NOPE! do not like the gauge on the german wool, it sort of twines up after knitting. making it A LOT tighter…

On the other hand I do want more intarsia of the two yarns…

Unravelled + new pattern:

icord + stems + 1. row = 2.7 needles
rest = 3.6 needles

Frogged yeat again…
More intarsia, less needle structure.
But really satisfied this time.

co-sideseam + stems + 1. row and co-stem in 2.5
rest in 3.6

Two-color purl as the basis for the intarsia.

Having fun with large needles while waiting for extra yarn for the original wings…

Finishing for now in extra large leaving the zauberball for another time.
Have temporarily lost the pattern notes on a crashed computer. but they are forthcoming.
the very briefest description goes like this:

The shawl is knitted in colorchanging yarns (the sides are old coop-wool, and the middle blue and brown sections are old leftovers appx same gauge).
no breaks no sewing.

Needles 7, hook 6. The mid section has a lot of stitches, I reccomend circular needles.

Start with 4 rows of 3-stitch icord, do not close off!

Keep the 3 live stitches, take out 4 stitches (i-cord cast on) back along the edge.

Knit a feather/leaf from these 4 stitches- on each purl row take out a stitch, leave it on the needle -the right side of the leaf will end up with stitches along the side, ending with the 3 icord stitches.

Stop taking out stitches when the feather decreases begin.

From the tip of the feather crochet back to the live stitches.

Knit all the way back to the 3 icord stitches.

use these 3 to knit a new pice of icord.

-repeat almost as before, leave the 3 stitches, take out back along the cord as base for the next column of feathers.

begin each purl row with a k2tog from the previous column, end it with a cast on.

lots of fiddleing with the caston and off to make them pretty and easy- also i cheated ad broke the yarn a few places to get sharper color definitions. also a lot of experimenting to get intarsia to work without breaking the yarn.
