Cuff, neckline and hem with 3.5 needles, body with 4.5 mm needles, sleeves with 4mm.
After swatching, my gauge was a little under, but I didn’t want to go up a needle as I felt the fair isle pattern would go uneven with this yarn.
After knitting up to the underarms, I knew the sweater would be too short for me, my apple shape does not suit a cropped sweater so well, so I added 4 repeats to make the sweater a standard length. It’s a shame to depart from the original design which looks so good, but at the same time this is a very heavy yarn, so a very warm sweater which will be very useful when I don’t heat my house and I could not bear the idea of my midriff being cold!
Very well written pattern, though I could not understand how to mattress stitch the shoulders: once you have cast off in pattern the cast off edge is quite bulky because you have cast off in 2 yarns, and the mattress stitch seemed to really pull out the hem stitches. This could be the yarn that I am using which is not that springy and very sticky. I therefore used back stitch to join the shoulders.
Other changes are working a couple of rows in contrasting colour for the bottom hem and cuffs rib.
The yarn looks and feels lovely, I love that it is wound as a cigar shape, such fun!
