Notes

July, 2013

If you are making this pattern and you are a little confused, do not despair! I was struggling with the shaping at the neck with the wrap & turns. Finally emailed the author who promptly assured me that…

“The short rows DO run into the cable, and then go to the purl stitch on the other side of it.”

Another slightly “counterintuitive” part to this pattern is the garter stitches on the shoulders. The pattern designates a particular stitch count to stop at for the garter stitches on the left and right front. The back, however, does not. Instead, the pattern gives an armhole length to stop at for the back. At first you might think that the back garter stitch count should be the same as the front, however, if this were true, then upon seaming you would find your back cables and front cables running right beside each other up the collar.

Hope this helps! Now on to my previous comments/notes…

March/April 2013

--Gauge swatches LIE!

--After swatching I decided to go w/ size 4 needles for the band and 5 for the body.

--Got quite a few rows done on the band and decided to switch to a longer cable to measure. My 40” band was 43” and could easily stretch to 49”!! RIP!

--Now knitting the size 36” on size 3 needles for the bottom band and hoping this will fix things.
