I couldn’t resist casting on this yarn either. Meh. It’s Socktober, so I shouldn’t resist, right?

Recipe:

• toe-up
• CO 12 sts (24 sts total) with contrast yarn
• Inc to 64 sts total
• Change to self-patterning yarn and k until foot measures 6.75” from tip of toe
• Afterthought heel using contrast yarn
• K leg for almost 5.25”
• 2x2 ribbing for 2”

December 26, 2015:
Decided to frog the sock and re-cast on using a contrast toe/heel/cuff, as the heel as is was driving me nuts with how much of the self-patterning was cut short.

December 31, 2015:
I decided to try to see if I can eek out a pair of socks with just 1 small ball of the Regia, mixed with the contrast yarn. I’ve knit the sock and have been weighing my yarn. I’ve hit the halfway mark with the Regia and the leg measures 5.25” from the top of the heel. I could continue on and knit another 3/4” to get my usual sock height, but then I would have a lot of yarn leftover.

Solution: stop knitting the leg and make the cuff longer to 2”. That way I’ll have half a ball of yarn to knit the second sock. Thing is, now I have 1 ball of yarn in this colourway. What to do with it??
