I made three Lost in Time shawls for Christmas gifts. With the first one, I found it essential to check the stitch count at the end of each row. (Lots of unpicking when I failed to do so!) The project was much easier than I had anticipated but as I ran out of yarn for the final row of the border, I decided to frog the whole project and start again. I crochet loosely and wasn’t entirely happy with how it looked. I started again using a 3.25 hook which felt perfect for me. I was very happy with the final result this time around….the stitch definition was greatly improved…and I had enough yarn to complete the project!
I was lucky with my first experience using Scheeples Whirl….I encountered only two visible knots…one near the beginning of the skein and one at the very end, but these worked into the stitches invisibly and didn’t cause any undue problems.
(When I made my second shawl using Pistachi Oh So Nice I had a horrible experience with knots occurring every few yards. I had to trim them scissors and even resort to cutting them out and re-starting rows which also resulted in several ends to be woven in once the project was completed. That skein nearly drove me insane….sad because the coloration was beautiful. Except that I had already purchased a third skein of Whirl in Blackcurrant Squeeze Me for my final shawl…I think I might have invested in a different brand of yarn. All’s well that ends well though….the Blackcurrant Squeeze me had very few noticeable knots and they blended into the stitches easily and invisibly. Perhaps my skein of Pistachi Oh So Nice was a bad one which somehow made it’s way through quality control. I do intend to use Whirl again for future projects…the colors are beautiful.)
Absolutely exquisite design. So pleased with each finished shawl. Each one took about two weeks to complete.
Thanks to Johanna Lindahl for her expertise and generosity in providing this pattern free to all. I look forward to trying more of her beautiful designs.
