This is attempt number two with this yarn. I like the outline! I was trying to find something similar to the Casual Cardigan pattern she’d liked but that was knit all in one piece and at a better gauge for this yarn. We’ll see. Better a finished sweater than none, I guess. 3 adjustments: I’ll leave off the pockets, I’ll add the cabled pattern from the Casual Cardigan that my aunt liked, and she wanted ribbed cuffs.
Cast on went smoothly (so many stitches!!!). I initially started with the 44” size but to accommodate hip size I started with the 48” and will see how it shapes up as I go and I may reduce the top to the 44” size if I think it will be too big otherwise. My gauge had appeared to run small with the Casual Cardigan with this yarn so I wanted to make sure to get the sweater wide enough.

Finally finished! I’ve stretched this out over so long that I don’t remember what all I ended up doing with the sizing on the top. I seem to have been following directions for the size 44.5 at the end so that’s what I’d guess.
Unfortunately my attempt to get a wider sweater did not translate to the front band. It does not touch in the front, thanks to my cabling substitution. I should have added a couple of inches at least to the front inside the cabling panels. The fit is otherwise fine as far as I can tell. My aunt will try it on when I see her next and give it to her!
