Notes

Cautionary note: I purchased this as a kit with a single skein of 800 yards (96 grams) with the intention of knitting the largest size. If that is your wish then I think you need to be very careful about following the pattern instructions if you only have 800 yards for the following reason:

The pattern begins with US 3 needles but after the leaf edging you are supposed to switch to US 2.5 needles. I missed that instruction and continued with US 3 needles. After the first repeat of the body section it became clear that I was going to run out of yarn early. I made a decision to continue with US 3 needles but I only repeated the body section twice (versus three times).

I then switched to the shoulder shaping section and dropped down to US 2 needles because I was very low on yarn… I also did a few extra decreased in this area to conserve yarn as well. And I used US 2 needles to do the neck edging border as well.

I finished with 4 gr of yarn left but the shaping of this shawl will be very “odd” because I had to eliminate essentially 40 rows of the body. I am surprised that the difference between a US 3 and a US 2.5 needle made that much difference but apparently it does. So be aware of that….
