Done! I had a ton of fun knitting this cardi. It’s a very clever construction, almost like putting a jigsaw puzzle together, and the pattern is well written, too. It took me a little while to get into the twisted stitches, but the finished fabric looks great so I think it was well worth the effort. Not to mention that the design is just beautiful.

I wanted the cardi to be a bit more form fitting so I knit the small (I’m a medium) and shortened it as well. I also read the gazillion project notes (one of many great things about Ravelry) on adjusting the neckline to close in somewhat. I did this as well, but I divided the yoke in thirds and knit 1/3 each with the 3.75mm, 3.5mm, ending with 2.5mm needles. And as Wollbine had done, I finished with the I-cord bind off, alternating k2tog and k3tog. I first tried a few inches of the bind off with just k2tog, but ended up a wavy neckline, so her idea was perfect.

Because of the button band being so delicate in the 1x1 rib and with so many buttons as well, I made my first attempt at sewing on a grosgrain ribbon. The Knitmore Girls’ tutorial came in very handy for this part. However, it took me longer to find someone to machine sew the buttonholes for me than it did to knit up the sweater. At least it’s finally done and I wore it for the first time yesterday!

The yarn itself is wonderful to knit with and feels great to wear. It also blocked beautifully. This was my first time knitting with Cascade Superwash Sport and it certainly won’t be my last.
