Using 3 strands of reclaimed yarn.
Followed the pattern with the exception of adding 3 rows so I could do a folded cowl neck (it looked too short to me in the pattern photos).
Comments on this pattern:
I love how easy this pattern was to follow! Really well written and simple to memorize. (I probably could have finished it in one evening if I hadn’t been tired).
Love how the finished piece looks, but I’m a bit disappointed with the size of it. I tend to crochet tight, and didn’t check gauge, so it’s a bit small across my shoulders (it barely reaches to my shoulder actually, never mind going over it like a cap). The neck/collar part is perfect though!
With that in mind then, if I was to do this again (which I will because it’s gorgeous!), I will use a bigger hook next time OR leave off the last 2 rows (which seemed to pull the sections in) OR add increases to all four sections (instead of just the front and back). As is, it tends to roll up a bit on me because it’s too narrow around.
I’m going to wear this tomorrow and see if the rolling bothers me. If so, I’ll take out the last 2 rows and figure out how to do a similar edging without gathering because it’s gorgeous and I really want to love this!
I’d give this pattern a 5 out of 5 (because the fit/sizing was my issue), because it’s gorgeous AND easy!
Follow up…. the rolling did bother me a bit, but I didn’t end up taking the rows out because my daughter fell in love with it and claimed it for herself! So….guess I’ll be making another one after all! :)
