This is a basic bodice. Easy to add a piece of fabric or a fancy handkerchief as a skirt

The piece begins at the waistline and increases for a bustline, decreasing towards the top.
7 SC = 1 inch

Chain 23, then turn

Row 1, 21 DC across (the first DC comes from the chain made)
Row 2-4 SC across
Row 5 has increases. SC SC (INC, SC) 9 times, end with SC (29 stitches)
Rows 6 & 7 SC across
Rows 8 & 9. (SC 4, INC) across the row
Row 10, SC 10, then DEC across stopping at the 10th stitch from the end, then SC 10.
Row 11, SC 5, then DEC across until the 5th stitch from end, then SC 5.

It’s ready to use. Can easily crochet straps and if you plan a bit, you could build the strap onto Row 11.

If the Barbie is a newer one with a thicker waist, start with more DCs and continue. Row 5 should be 29 stitches.
