This is an original Bohus pattern designed as a series of “Mists” (in various colors) by Kerstin Olsson during 1963-1965 and updated first by Solveig Gustafsson and then more recently by Pernille Silfverberg.
My friend, Joyce, saw the Red Palm Jacket I made last spring and asked me to make a Bohus Jacket for her daughter, Crystal, with a black main color. She decided that the Gray Mist would be the most versatile color/s for everyday wear in a chilly office environment.
I ordered the Gray Mist pattern colors in full skeins from AngoraGarnet’s e-shop as well as enough black angora blend for the base color figuring I could follow the other Mist charts that I own…the Blue, Green and Gray Mist Rose. My plan was to follow the Green Mist Jacket instructions from The Revival book.
Wouldn’t you know, upon more careful inspection of each of my mist charts, there are subtle (and not so subtle) differences in each so I am winging the Gray Mist color order but following the chart for Green Mist Jacket. After I ordered this yarn, I see that the Gray Mist with a black base is is now offered by AngoraGarnet but I did not have access to it so those who might want to make this exactly could order the kit.
I am using the same waist shaping and body lengthening that I used in the Red Palm jacket.
My deadline is Crystal’s birthday but summer chores are making the knitting slow.
July 10
Started fronts which took approximately 2 weeks each.
August 10
Started back
August 31, 2018
Finished knitting the back…now to join shoulders and side seams - matching waist shaping as I seam using live stitches from the fronts and “knitting them together” with pickup stitches from the back sides. Joining a vertical piece to a horizontal piece is always fussy but particularly in black angora blend.
