MODS:

  • CO 128
  • K1 row with black yarn (makes it really, really loose so I can fit it over my huge head)
  • Knit 1 pink, purl 1 black making sure that both colors are on the same side (like I’m double knitting, which I am)
  • Done top down so I knew when to start the ‘stache
  • ’Stache done as I’m knitting so I can’t screw it up by my horrible sewing skills

All of the seniors at my regimented college are allowed the privlege of growing a mustache during their senior year. Some of the guys grow glorious growths on their faces that rival elephant seals. Most end up with these weird little mustaches that makes me think of one word every time I see one; that word is “pedophile”. Anyway, as a female member of the regiment, I should be unable to grow a mustache when I become a senior. Jealous that I will be inable to partake in the regimental tradition of mustache growing, I decided to knit up an Incognito neckwarmer a semester early so that I could run around campus in my uniform and with a mustache when the snow falls. One side is a regimentally correct black (it goes with khaki) and the other is a mischievous barbie puke pink with a black mustache. That way, if I come across a member of the commandant staff, I can pull a switcheroo and not get in trouble.

Because I was using size 7 needles and the yarn I used was thinner than recommended, I wanted to make sure that it would fit me so I used the directions for the super large (64 st). I like the idea of the neck-warmer being double-knit, because it’ll make it twice as thick and twice as likely to help protect me in the frigid cold of Maine.
