Notes

Since my yarn is sport weight, not DK, I am using size 7 needles for the main collar. I will switch back to 8s when I get to the ruffle.

Miss Sophronia Temminnick* is a masterful intelligentsia with a regrettably poor wardrobe. Her best friend Dimity probably knitted her a warm alpaca collar to go with her green convertible travel dress. You know, to keep warm while hijacking dirigibles from the Picklemen. And because it’s Dimity, it has ruffles. And sparkles.

Well, it was a struggle of knitting and tinking because I kept running out of yarn. Once I sewed on the buttons and wove in the ends, I tried it on and was not happy. Because I had to shorten the ruffle, it stuck out like an Elizabethan collar. So now it’s being blocked in hopes of lengthening and softening it. Maybe if I set it aside for a while and pick it up again I’ll be happier, but in the meantime it’s just not what I wanted it to be (fault of the amount of yarn, not the pattern).

blocking made the ruffles lay down nicely, and now they even have a bit of a point to them. So much happier!
