Notes

Triangle shawl with a little cabled spine and an adaptable lace section that can be used as an all over pattern, a nape detail, an edging, or as bands throughout the body of these shawl. Any size, and drop in and out of lace after any repeat. Simple and flexible is the plan here.

This is one of the Fairy Tales series, the role of hero. To me, a hero isn’t necessarily brave, powerful, handsome, of any of the other typical qualities. They simply do what must be done. So this shawl will be named East of the Sun, West of the Moon after the brave heroine of that captivating story, who did what must be done.

A brave hero must have a true heart, a straight strong spine, and a spirit bright as diamond, so these are the pattern elements included in this shawl. ;D

97g yarn (380m/420y)

140x68cm

Exactly 80 beads, 20 at the top, 60 in the edging.

Blocking at last! Using the corner of the carpet to line up the edges - if forgotten what a pain triangles are to get square. Things are dire when I resort to the tape measure. Tried blocking just the diamonds, but it looked better when the hearts were pinned too.

Including outtakes from the photoshoot: having the breeze was great, or would have been if it had been coming from a different direction, but Mary Poppins managed to face plant (in a manner of speaking at least) no less than 3 times, once into a blackberry bush, and the last time she got grass stains all over her not-nipples. Oh well, I’ve been meaning to finish painting her anyway.

And the other outtake is because Roland wanted to be in on the action. You can play spot-the-alpaca in at least one other photo too.

Currently measures 120 x 55. Dithering while I work out whether to do another rep of edging. 30g left.

Thus far:
Set up
3 reps lace
4 stockinette
2 reps lace on edge.

Thankfully 2 spine cables per repeat for easy counting to work out compatible st counts to resume lace after plain. :)
