Swanendipity!
I just had one of those moments of perfect serendipity! We’ve had 3 attempts at a photoshoot for my Wild Swan for the upcoming MKAL, and each time something has gotten in the way - flooding in Venice, gastro in the Austrian Alps, and after camping in the little medieval town of Rothenburg last night, it was drizzling this morning.. Tomorrow is our last travelling day before returning the van and leaving Europe, so time is getting short! We were driving up the Nektar river today, making our way back to The Netherlands, when we spied a picturesque spot beside the river. A wide, still river, reflecting the glowing autumn foliage, and a proper looking castle in the background. Phew! I whip off my two jackets, don the shawl and start .. well.. swanning around for the camera, and just as we were about to pack up, a pair of swans sails up river. I grab a pretzel to lure them in , and they happily join in the photoshoot. I can’t share J’s photos yet, this being an MKAL, but there were some rippers! They came right up, and I had to mind my P’s and Q’s, as the cob had some very definite opinions about quite a few things (such as who owned the bread in my hand, who can look who in the eye, and who is allowed to spread their wings/arms out..) and swans can have a nasty bite..
